Take me to the NCAA Basketball Finals

College basketball brings much excitement and plenty of fans to the stands.  The fans gathered to partake in the excitement of college basketball finals for various reasons.  Some come to cheer on their Alma matter, others go to support their local area, some for the pure love of the game and others to watch up and coming NBA stars in the making.  Another reason one may see a group of cheering fans is due to a corporate event.  Used as an incentive, many corporate businesses use sporting events such as basketball finals to show a gesture of appreciation to their employees.  Often times sporting events can be used as a prelude to a business transaction as well.

Canadian James Naismith first introduced the game of basketball in 1891 to a group of students at the local YMCA Training School in Massachusetts where he presided as the physical education teacher.  By 1893, rules were well established ad the first official basketball game took place-utilizing 18 of the YMCA students, 9 to a team.  Initially only men partook in the sport of basketball but later women joined in on the competition in 1984.  Prior to women joining in on the sport of basketball, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rose in the basketball court.  Due to numerous injuries in college sports, first initiating with football, the NCAA was formed due to the insistence of President Theodore Roosevelt.  In 1910, the NCAA was an active governing force in college basketball.

Come 1939, Evanston Illinois held the first ever Men’s College Basketball tournament where Oregon beat Ohio State taking the first ever National Championship.  The following year, college basketball hit the air being broadcasted over television.  February 28th 1940, W2XBS broadcasted live from Madison Square Garden the first ever live broadcast of a college basketball game between Fordham University and The University of Pittsburg with Pittsburg winning 50 to 37 while New York City residence watch along from the comfort of their homes.  Since this time, college basketball finals have been taken nationwide.

A sport with such a humble beginning of the use of a peach basket with the simplicity of the rules being whichever team made the most basket wins was never fathom to become the rage it is today.  Now thousands plus fill up the stadiums to watch the basketball finals.  Who would have known that a ball and a peach basket would have built up to the sensation it is today to becoming a hub in not only connecting alma matter to their roots, but building new business connections, employee incentives, sporting travel packages, to nationally broadcasted, and so much more. †
